Who cares! Let the GOP win the House tomorrow
We don't need no stinkin' House majority.
What have the Democrats done for us anyway?
Sure, Time Magazine says that the Democrats have implemented "the most ambitious energy legislation in history... ...pouring $90 billion into clean energy, including unprecedented investments in a smart grid; energy efficiency; electric cars; renewable power from the sun, wind and earth; cleaner coal; advanced biofuels; and factories to manufacture green stuff in the U.S. The act will also triple the number of smart electric meters in our homes, quadruple the number of hybrids in the federal auto fleet and finance far-out energy research through a new government incubator modeled after the Pentagon agency that fathered the Internet."
Oh, and it also said that, because of Obama and the Democrats, "There's $8 billion for a high-speed passenger rail network, the boldest federal transportation initiative since the interstate highways. There's $4.35 billion in Race to the Top grants to promote accountability in public schools, perhaps the most significant federal education initiative ever -- it's already prompted 35 states and the District of Columbia to adopt reforms to qualify for the cash. There's $20 billion to move health records into the digital age, which should reduce redundant tests, dangerous drug interactions and errors caused by doctors with chicken-scratch handwriting. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius calls that initiative the foundation for Obama's health care reform and "maybe the single biggest component in improving quality and lowering costs."
But they just keep going on and on and on about all that... ...boring.
And then there is Rolling Stone that made the extensive case that Obama"Averted a Depression", "Sparked a Recovery", "Saved the U.S. Auto Industry", "Reformed Health Care in America", "Cut Corporate Welfare", "Restored America's Reputation", "Protected Consumers", and "Launched a Clean-Energy Moonshot".
So what!
Even stinker Rassmussen offers a commentary noting the unprecedented effectiveness of President Obama.
The paradox is just how "effective" the president has been, at least if you define "effective" as doing what he said he'd do when he ran for office. He said he'd get comprehensive health care reform through Congress (like every Democrat who won and lost in the past 20 years has said), but he actually did it. He said he'd push for major financial regulation, and you can also check that one off the list as done. Big stimulus package to create jobs -- did that. More diversity at the top -- say yes to that, with triple the number of women on the High Court (or about to be). He said Afghanistan was the important war, the one he'd focus on -- and he has. He appealed to Hispanic voters by promising not to play punitive immigration politics -- and his Justice Department has now sued Arizona for allegedly intruding on federal supremacy to shape immigration policy.
Like him or hate him, the one thing you can't say about Barack Obama is that he is the typical politician who makes promises he doesn't keep. He hasn't. He made promises and he kept them.
And at least one blog has tried to communicate to the world that "Obama Has done Exactly What He Promised to Do" noting that he and the Democrats funded stem-cell research, ended the war in Iraq, enacted historic healthcare reform, turned the U.S. toward a path of energy independence, regulated financial markets, led the world in nuclear non-proliferation, opened Cuba to family, and eliminated bank middle-men from federal student loans.
Yada, yada, yada... ...same stuff, different channel.
But really, what about all this stuff?
Healthcare? Ha! Where is the 'Public Option'? Where is the funding for poor women to get abortions?
Iraq? Yeah right. Why are there still 50,000 troops over there?
Don't ask. Don't tell? Filibustered.. Why didn't you get the votes?.
Immigration? Where's the reform? What about Arizona?
Wall Street Reform? He really taught them a lesson. NOT!
Climate Legislation? Not this year. It's getting' hot in here.
And there you go.
So why haven't the Democrats done everything I wanted them to do and the way that I wanted them to do it in their first two years of Obama's presidency? Hmmm?
I'm Outraged! And Democrats are going to pay the price!
After all, we know better. We would be in a much better situation if the Republicans were back in charge - remember them, the same republicans that:
...took us to Iraq to find the trillions of tons of illegal weapons of mass destruction that were quickly found there.
...brought us the deregulation that brought down the financial industry, the housing industry, the auto industry, and nearly the United States of America.
...find it impossible to believe that 'Global Warming' is anything more than an Al-Gore-led left-wing conspiracy to enrich Al Gore.
...struggle to accept that the universe is older than 5,000 years old, or that the dinosaurs were
dead long before humans walked the Earth.
...that promise to not only do the same thing again once in power, but to also privatize Social Security and 'reform' all those other pesky entitlement programs that cause rich Republicans to pay lots and lots of taxes.
Now that's action with a spine!
Seriously though, what does it matter if the Democrats lost their House majority?
A loss of majority would be needed punishment for the Democrats - especially the Blue dogs who abandon our progressive principles so often.
Come on.
Does it really matter that the majority party is the one that drives the national agenda? Or that they are the ones who lead the two houses of congress and their committees.
So what if the president doesn't drive the legislative agenda and the congress does. So what if outside of some powers of executive orders, the president can't do anything unless the houses of congress agree upon a bill and offer it to the president for his signature in order to make the bill a law. It doesn't matter that this is where the president's power lies - in his or her ability to sign the bill or veto it. Or that everything that shows up on his desk otherwise is up to the House and Senate - and that it is the majority party in each of those houses that determines what is considered and passed on to the President for his signature into law.
I DON'T CARE! Let the Republican's win! Stay at home. Avoid GOTV. Don't take friends with you to the voting places. Don't remind relatives to go vote for their local Democrats. Because we don't need the House leadership. We'll be much better off with the Republican's in charge.
If this is my only tool of punishment for the Democrats in charge for not doing my exact bidding in these 24 months, then so be it.
Who Cares! Let the GOP Win the House Tomorrow.
Go Palin 2012 -- Fulfill our Mayan destiny.
That'll teach those Democrats!
